To mark Ocean Week Canada, Québec-Océan joined l'Océan dans vos classes, activities, which took place from June 1–5, 2026.
For the occasion, online presentations were given in elementary school classrooms across the French-speaking world, while in-person sessions took place in classrooms in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and at Parc du Bic, offering a day of immersion in a maritime setting to wrap up the week. Québec-Océan set up an exhibit booth and organized a discovery outing on the foreshore.

The booth helped visitors understand the impact of micro- and nano-plastic accumulation in the food chain through an interactive game and concrete examples of beach trash collected at Parc du Bic. Visitors were also encouraged to take simple steps to reduce our impact—both at home and by supporting the park’s initiative to collect beach trash instead of seashells. Participants even got to learn how to make an origami whale!
During the field trip to the foreshore, Brithany Beaudoin (UQAR) introduced concepts related to geological history, sediment transport, and grain size distribution. The field trip was co-organized in collaboration with Ressources Aquatiques Québec.
