Québec-Océan closes the year by presenting its awards of excellence, to highlight the quality of the research and outreach of its members, who are advancing knowledge of the marine environment.

Québec-Océan is pleased to present two student publication awards to Élie Dumas-Lefebvre (UQAR) and Ella Guscelli (UQAR), respectively for their publications, Aerial observations of sea ice break-up by ship waves and Northern shrimp from multiple origins show similar sensitivity to global change drivers, but different cellulal energetic capacity. 🌊 Québec-Océan joint publication Awards 2023 🌊
Two joint publication prizes were awarded ex-aequo to articles by first authors Martine Lizotte (collaborator, DFO) and Ludovic Pascal (research professional, UQAR), and their collaborators. The publication by Martine Lizotte and her 47 collaborators on Understanding the origin and fate of terrestrial organic matter in the coastal waters of the Mackenzie Delta region, brings together several current and former members of Québec-Océan, including Atsushi Matsuoka, Philippe Massicotte, Ghislain Bécu, Simon Bélanger, Flavienne Bruyant, Gwénaëlle Chaillou, Gabrièle Deslongchamps, Marie-Hélène Forget, Jean-Éric Tremblay and Marcel Babin.
The publication by Ludovic Pascal and his 6 collaborators, Ocean deoxygenation caused non-linear responses in the structure and functioning of benthic ecosystems brings together 5 other current members of Québec-Océan, including Philippe Archambault, Piero Calosi, André Cuenca, Alfonso Mucci and Gwenaëlle Chaillou. Peter Galbraith (collaborator, DFO) received the Media Outreach Award, mainly for his remarkable investment in the medias and the wide coverage he received for his work on oceanographic conditions in the Gulf of St Lawrence.
