Laure Vilgrain, who recently obtained her PhD in oceanography from Université Laval, under the supervision of Frédéric Maps and in cotutelle with Sorbonne Université in Paris, France, studied the importance of coloration in Calanus copepods in relation to other important characteristics of these crustaceans. Her work was part of the Sentinelle Nord-funded CARDINAL project, and aimed to define a red coloration index on individual images of Calanus copepods from different regions, from the North Atlantic to the Arctic Ocean.
