Arctus is a company like no other. Arctus is an SME founded in 2009 by researchers Simon Bélanger (UQAR) and Marcel Babin (Takuvik) in collaboration with ACRI-st, a company based in the Alpes Maritimes in southeastern France. Launched on a terrace in Villefranche-sur-mer, the project became a reality in 2009, but Arctus really took off in 2015/16. Is Arctus a start-up? Why an ocean remote sensing company in Rimouski? Where will Arctus be in 2023? What makes Arctus different from AquaTEL? Implications for a professor of owning a company (conflict of interest?)? Where might Arctus be in 2030?
