The Institut nordique de recherche sur l'environnement et la santé au travail (INREST), the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) and the Université Laval (ULAVAL), are combining their expertise to create the Groupe de recherche sur l'écosystème du fjord du Saguenay (GREFS). Pascal Sirois (UQAC) will be responsible for the Ecofjord Laboratory and Philippe Archambault (U. Laval) will be responsible for the Biome Laboratory. The work carried out at GREFS will allow for the advancement of scientific knowledge and a better understanding of the factors that influence habitats, flora and marine fauna. This cutting-edge research is made possible thanks to a $5.6 million investment from local stakeholders and the Quebec government.
