Biography:
After a Ph.D. under the supervision of Pascal Bernatchez, obtained in 2020 at UQAR, David Didier quickly begins an academic career at the same university. His research focuses on Arctic and sub-Arctic coastal morphodynamics by combining mapping, modeling, and video imagery. The objective of his research program is to develop new knowledge on the prevention and management of natural hazards in northern maritime environments, through an integrated approach based on community knowledge, local issues, environmental sciences, and geomorphology. These projects are carried out in close collaboration with members of Inuit communities, local, provincial and federal organizations, as well as several researchers from Québec-Océan or CEN. They aim to better understand the impact of environmental changes on local populations and to set up reflections on adaptation methods. David is a new co-researcher member of Québec-Océan.
