The marine biomass was constant
Did you know that if you compare the biomass of all marine life - from plankton to whales - they weigh the same? This hypothesis, put forward in the 1970s by scientist R. W. Sheldon, has just been tested on a global scale by an international team. According to their results, human activities seem to have considerably reduced the biomass of certain species such as fish and whales. According to Philippe Archambault (U. Laval), this imbalance will affect the entire food web.
