The social dimension of ecosystem management is important
A team including Pascal Bernatchez (UQAR) and Mathieu Cusson (UQAC), focused on the role of knowledge and understanding of ecosystem services for the adaptive management of coastal erosion. By conducting a case study in Québec maritime, they assessed the perception of various local stakeholders on coastal habitats and the services they provide. Their results show that ecosystem conservation is closely associated with the maintenance of links between communities, ecosystems, and the access and sustainable use of the resources they provide. The article is published in the journal Ecosystem Services.
