Deo Onda, a former member of Québec-Océan and oceanographer from the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute (UPMSI) and American Explorer Victor Vescovo, have just successfully returned to surface after diving 34,000 feet deep (about 10,360 m) in the Emden Deep located in the Philippine Trench. Deo became the first Filipino to reach the third deepest point on Earth.
