14th International Symposium on Estuarine Biogeochemistry

Some 60 researchers met in Rimouski, last June 5 to 7, to discuss how estuaries act as biogeochemical reactors in the ocean-continent continuum. Although most of them were from Canada and the United States, some came from as far as Mexico, France, Spain, Germany, Finland and even China. After three days of scientific conferences and poster presentations, the event concluded on new ideas that will no doubt lead to novel research approaches in the future.

The symposium was a joint organisation by UQAR, UQAR-ISMER and Québec-Océan. The local organisation committee was comprised of professors Gwénaëlle Chaillou, Richard St-Louis, Jean-Pierre Gagné, Alexandra M. Rao and Jean-Carlos Montero Serrano as well as graduate students Gwendoline Tommi-Morin, Maude Sirois et Antoine Biehler, all of whom are Québec-Océan members, with the help of Sophie Banville, QO coordinator (absent).
